I feel as thought Spuffy fandom has had lots of small partings along the way, though. Some Spuffyites can't stand anything past OMWF, some more left around SR, a bunch (including me) have serious troubles with S7, and then a whole bunch more go AU during Spike's apparently OOC antics in Ats S5. There's been a slow but steady divergence of Spuffyites and story for a very long time now.
