Well, i'm not sure i'll be able to bring up the energy to actually write it. ;-)

I have a lot of ideas floating through my head but a serious dissection of "season 8 as meta commentary" is a lot of work - work i'm not entirely sure i'll be able to stomach since so much things within the narrative run counter to my intutition and sometimes even convictions.

On B/A: We were all told to be "very afraid for Bangel", Buffy says about Angel that "you don't know me", "i can't trust you", "i never do what i'm told". We also go back to Buffy's first death (Master) which reminds us of Angel's inability to save her (as opposed to Xander).

It is still in the cards that Angel is against Buffy/on the dark side and the betrayal is about him (cue Buffy crying hard for lost teenage dreams).

Buffy having her very bestest day could be a cue for glowhypnol (destiny, influence of PtBs/Firsts, whatever).

Does it add up?

No.

But since the Buffy/Spike reunion went pretty much how i imagined it, i think all this mumbojumbo nonsense is due to not enough space within the last few issues. There is a lot of story to tell and only 4 issues left. We won't get any deep character interaction or straightening out of plot holes/story lines.

Add to that Scott Allie writing this and it will get a certain "drift" to it, meaning that the B/A stuff might be more elevated than intended and other character interaction (like B/S) flattened than intended.
