Thing is, as much as I love Spike, Spike in an empty universe full of soulless empty characters isn't interesting. A story needs more than one cool character for there to be interaction and fun. It's the intriguing characters bouncing off each other that makes a story great.
But this? Spike being the hero of a silly story full of idiots (and not even likeable idiots)? If I want that I'd go and read badfic.
