It's true! At this point though I think it's also that, as Angel does in his way, she also looks up to and worships Buffy. Look at the wonderful beautiful gorgeous woman in white in front of her! It almost makes the pain go away, but she also knows it doesn't. I'm not going to push it in the notes, but I do wonder sometimes how much a reading of Willow in love with Buffy affects her arc in the show. Certainly she loves Buffy very much, in a way that isn't quite reciprocal, and also obsesses over her and also wants to be her.

There's a big element of this in Anywhere But Here, where Willow seems tacitly to admit that it's hard to have room in her life and her heart for others because of Buffy, and ends by saying that she doesn't want to choose again, or do that to "the woman I love." The woman she loves--Kennedy? Buffy? Tara?--is left ambiguous, and I think it's all three.
