Good point about the Wish. This episode does a great job of making Buffy's sacrifice for others clear, though. If it weren't for Willow, Buffy wouldn't go off to die.

I guess your interpretation saves the letter of the prophecy. It's written as though she follows him when she doesn't know him -- but prophecies are tricky, so that could work. (I like it as foreshadowing for season 2 myself).
