Thanks! It took a friend of mine who happens to be a serious Christian browbeating me for over a year to get me to watch Buffy in the first place. And it was the resonance with my own philosophy/theology that hooked me hard. Funny given how much bashing Joss does of organized religion. There's even a line in Beer Bad about how no Thomas Aquinas will be permitted. But once you see that Aquinas needs to be denied you have already gone far down the path of things I find compelling.
