US go through! UK go through! Woo Hoo!!!!!!!

Amazing morning!  I'm so very proud of our boys.  They played so well, and so hard and they didn't give up -- getting the group-winning goal in stoppage time.  Landon Donovan was brilliant.  They all were.  So very proud.

Yay for England.  I didn't get to see the match, but the results end up being exactly what I wanted.  Now, alas, we are a bit at odds as I will be rooting *very* hard for Germany this afternoon.

Still -- what a great day!  Best world cup group play I've ever seen from the yanks.

Oh yes, USA sure knows how to keep it exciting!
I was a nervous wreck by the end of that match.
Epic, epic resilience and display of character for the American team! What a difficult run it was, but they prevailed.

That's why I love football (oops soccer) so much! And we are just in the beginning, elimination stage should be brutal...

I'm happy for England too and hope for a makeout session between John Stewart and John Oliver on the Daily Show tonight. :) Best outcome ever!

Also happy for Germany and Ghana - at least one African nation made it through, and USA will have an easier opponent too. :) We might go to 1/8 yet!

Honestly I had given up hope. It just seemed impossible that the US could find the strength to make one more push after all those missed chances. So happy to have been wrong about that!

I don't get why futball isn't more popular here. It always delivers the most thrilling moments, of which today was a prime example. Anyway, this is my favorite US team ever. So much heart.

I have to miss US-Ghana! A friend is getting married and I'm fairly certain I won't be able to persuade her to postpone her wedding for a day. Hopefully we make it through. If we do, the next round should also be a fairly manageable opponent. Not impossible that we could get to the semi-finals this year. But that's too far down the road. Hurray for today!

I'm going to miss it too - kids are invited to friend's all-day outdoor birthday party... I shouldn't be wishing for a rainy day that day, but it's so hard. :)

Your team is doing very well. I'm happy for them and for you.

As for the whole French team debacle "we will speak of them no more." Spits. As you know it I'm not invested in football, but even I felt really angry about their behaviour. It was shameful.

Thanks! Alas, I have to miss tomorrow's game. Here's hoping it's not their last one!

And I'm so very sorry about the French team. At least the world cup is over for them. :(
